“Alliance” for Safety 2004

On February 11, 2004 the Safety Council of Upstate New York signed an Alliance with OSHA and the New York State Department of Labor.

The Regional Director of OSHA, Ms. Patricia Clark, traveled from Regional Headquarters in New York City as a special guest to join Council President, Irene Scruton, in signing the Alliance Agreement. Also present at the signing of the Alliance was Diane Brayden, Syracuse Area Director, John Tomich, Albany Area Director, Art Dube, Buffalo Area Director, and David Hutchison, NYS Department of Labor On-Site Consultation Bureau.

The Alliance will have many benefits for employers and workers in the Upstate New York area.  It will also provide participants with information, guidance and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety. The specific areas that the Alliance will cover are programs to reduce and prevent exposure to hazards associated with workplace violence, motor vehicle safety and highway work zone safety.

Both Ms. Clark and Ms. Scruton stated in their opening remarks that based on the Council’s work over the years, the “Alliance was a natural and perfect fit!”

We look forward to this collaboration and many future successes with the Council, said Ms. Brayden, Syracuse Area Director.

A reception was held after the signing for members and guests.
