Text Box: The helmet law in Onondaga County requires all youth up to the age of 18 to wear an approved helmet when on bicycles, in-line skates, scooters or skateboards.

HistoryText Box: The Onondaga County Bicycle Safety Coalition was formed in 1989 with a one-time grant from the New York State Department of Health. Since then, the program has continued without any outside funding through donations to the program and the sale of helmets purchased in bulk. The Bicycle Safety Coalition sites offer sales and proper fit adjustment of high-quality bicycle and multi-sport helmets to youth and adult residents at a minimum cost.
